Massachusetts Esthetics EducationAlthough most states require 600 hours of training for an aesthetics license, the state of Massachusetts requires only 300 hours of training for an esthetician license. The reality is that there is far more demand for aestheticians with 600 hours of training than for those with only 300 hours. Our spa oriented Esthetician Program for Massachusetts gives you the skills you need for this competitive field and prepares you for exams in other states. We highly recommend the 600 hour program for anyone who wants to work in a high end spa or salon or if you plan on moving or working in other states in addition to Massachusetts. The 600 hour Aesthetics Program is packed with a great selection of high-end services that are usually only offered in programs of 900 hours or more. We feel your time is valuable and we want to make sure that you have the most complete set of skills possible. The 300 hour programs can be completed in 3 or 6 months and the 600 hour program can be completed in 6 or 12 months. Starting in the September of 2007 we are also offering a part-time/mothers hour program that is 9 months long. For more information on the programs please call the location that is closest to you or use the information request button below.
Important Consideration on 300 or 600 Hour ProgramAlthough Massachusetts currently requires that you be able to take your exam at 300 hours of study, the following experience from a graduate is important information when planning your future. Schedule
Dear Spa Tech, When I went for an interview last week for a job position as an Aesthetician, one of the first questions that was asked was, "Do you have any experience with advanced treatment?" I had to tell them no because I only took the first 300 hours of the program. I do have a Cosmetology license but they continued to say this is great but what we are really looking for is someone who has experience with advanced treatments. Your admissions person was very clear that employers would be looking for the advanced skills but I was unable to do the entire program. I do intend to take as much of the advanced work as possible in the future to improve my job opportunities. Thank you for a great training. The teachers and staff were amazing. Sincerely,
Natasha's experience is consistent with what salons, clinics and spas have been telling us for years. This is why we encourage everyone to take the full 600 hour program if they are serious about doing the work professionally. Even if you are a cosmetologist already, the body wraps, herbal wraps, aromatherapy and many other advanced techniques are what make your training the most valuable.
