Thank you for visiting our school web site to learn more about who we are.

There are a few simple keys to success in life: Look good, feel good and have a good attitude. The last one is much easier to do if you look and feel your best. And for anyone who has suffered through someone having a bad hair day can testify, nothing goes right when you don't look good.

We are blessed with the best job in the world: We get to teach people in a career that they love at the same time we teach them to look and feel their best. Our graduates are changing people's lives. The number of makeover shows and related beauty shows are a testament to the power that appearance plays in everyday life. Beautiful people that are well groomed and healthy make more money and are generally more successful in all aspects of life. This has been statistically proven.

As a consumer, you are faced with a difficult situation. Education is a very lucrative field and has attracted extremely aggressive companies who spend more on marketing and sales than they do on education. Your challenge is to get beyond the hype and discover the schools that can provide you with a truly superior education. We provide some pointers to help point you in your search.

The foundation of any school is the quality of instructors and curriculum. All schools claim to have the best so it is very difficult for the consumer to At Spa Tech Institute we place a very high value on our teachers, both individually and as a team. We pay our teachers more than any other school and give them teacher training provided by Clear Point Education that is unique in the industry. It teaches empowerment, learning styles and teaching techniques based on over 25 years of training adult students. When you meet our teachers and see them working with the students in the cosmetology clinic you will see why our students excel. They are simply an excellent group of teachers.

One of our other goals is to teach our students life skills and communication skills that prepare them for a professional environment that is above the current industry standard. We believe that through teaching the students to handle themselves as mature professionals, conducting themselves with courtesy and confidence, they will influence any salon or spa they where they work.

I look forward to meeting our students and helping them discover their dreams.

Accreditation

Licensing, Accreditation and Approvals

Accreditation is a complicated area that is often misunderstood. While accreditation is significant, it is important to remember that accreditation does not guarantee a great education. Accreditation focuses primarily on the administrative and financial ability of the school. Education is too difficult to evaluate as it is much more unique.

Accreditation is a voluntary process that identifies and acknowledges educational programs and/or institutions for achieving and maintaining a level of quality, performance, and integrity that meets meaningful standards. Accreditation is a major way that students, families, government officials, and the press know that an institution or program meets a high standard for administrative compliance and financial stability.

The three major categories of accreditation are:

  1. Accreditation approved by the US Department of Education that allows schools to participate in Title IV financial aid.

  2. Private accreditation that is not approved by the US Department of Education.

  3. The term accreditation used by some states or state boards.

The first level is the most rigorous and itself has multiple levels of accreditation for various types of schools. There is a great deal of overlap between accrediting companies and schools select different accrediting companies for various reasons. The standards have slight variations but the process is relatively the same.

Some schools may attempt to assign superior value to their school or program based on their accreditation. This is not an honest portrayal. The best indicator of a school's quality is found in the success of the graduates and the reputation of the school with employers.

Our goal is to greatly exceed the standards of accreditation and provide programs that offer an educational experience that is outstanding. We are passionate about making you as successful as possible and redefining education to be a significant life enhancing experience.

We look forward to working with you to reach new levels of confidence, knowledge and success in your life.

About Us

About the School

Spa Tech Institute was founded in 1976 as Headhunter School of Hair Design. In 2001 the school was purchased by Kris Stecker with the vision to create one of the leading spa, beauty and wellness schools in the world.

By combining the work taught by the Polarity Realization Institute, a leading school of Polarity and Massage Therapy, along with the existing and more mature field of cosmetology, the school represents the future of both fields. With the addition of  a unique aesthetics program designed to focus on healthy skin and conscious touch, the school has fulfilled its initial mission.

By expanding the school to include locations in Ipswich, Plymouth and Westboro, Massachusetts as well as the locations in Portland and Westbrook, Maine, the school has become the premier provider of well trained professionals in New England.  Employers have come to rely on Spa Tech Institute to provide the skilled professionals needed to run a successful salon, spa, clinic or private practice.

In 2006 Spa Tech Institute completed its reaccreditation with NACCAS with a perfect review in all five locations. The accrediting agency issued a letter and certificate of commendation for the excellence of the school's five locations.

The new goals of the school are to continue to increase the number of graduates with successful practices and continue to pioneer the integration of the RYSE energy work and HumanHaptics in the field of education. Additionally we are expanding our CEU classes to allow graduates of other programs to learn more about the unique work taught at the school.

We look forward to sharing this work with you so you may take it into the world to share with others.
