Graduate Spotlight April 2018 Jade Wang

Spa Tech • Apr 02, 2018

Jade Wang came to the United States from China in 2008 to further her education. She graduated from Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island with a degree in International Hotel and Tourism Management. This is where she met her husband, Stephen. She worked in Boston for a tourism company for a few years but realized that this was not her passion. She began searching for a career which would satisfy her need to help people.

Jade came to an Open House at Spa Tech Institute in 2015 because she had heard many good things about the school. She quickly enrolled in the Holistic Massage program, so she could learn about energy work as well as massage. Jade says of her time at SpaTech, “It was a wonderful experience. I loved everything about Spa Tech Institute. Everyone was so supportive.” She is grateful to her business class instructor, Nicole Rinaldi, who was very knowledgeable and provided support along the way.

While in school, Jade enjoyed the anatomy and the kinesiology classes the most because they taught her all about the body and how she could release people’s pain. She also gained a lot of confidence while working in the massage clinic. She says of her fellow students, “I made great connections while in school and have a great network of friends.”

Jade graduated in 2016 and went to work for Massage Envy. Her real goal was to open her own spa though. In 2017, that dream became reality when she opened LifeBloom Massage & Spa in Gloucester. The vision for her spa is a calm, warm, beachy feel where her clients can experience health, beauty and inner peace.

LifeBloom offers chiropractic care, aesthetic services and many types of massage including hot stone, deep tissue, cupping, couples massage, energy work and reflexology. She employs 10 massage graduates from Spa Tech Institute and is looking to hire more therapists in the coming months.

Jade encourages others who have a passion for massage therapy to go for it and enroll at Spa Tech Institute. She says opening her own spa was not easy and took a lot of work, but it is well worth it!

She markets LifeBloom Massage & Spa on social media, has joined groups like the Chamber of Commerce and BNI Group and is networking with local physical therapists and chiropractors.

Jade has always had a passion for helping others, to improve people physically, release tension and help her clients feel less pain in their everyday life. She wants to change the way people view massage therapy and to help them realize it should be part of their routine healthcare.

Jade has two little girls at home, 3 years and 8 months, who keep her very busy, but she makes time for her passion and her clients. Visit Jade and her staff at LifeBloom Massage & Spa, 5C Dr. Osman Babson Road in Gloucester. 978-559-7896.
