Graduate Spotlight August 2018 Kasia Doran

Albert Quintero • September 1, 2018

Kasia remembers the diversity of the city of Philadelphia and loved the culture of the city. She started out working in customer service for an airline and continued for twenty years. In 1988 she visited Boston and met her future husband. They had a long-distance relationship until they married in 1990.

In 2001, Kasia decided to leave the airline and worked as a recruiter for about three years. This is when she thought about becoming a massage therapist. She was living in Ipswich, MA so she visited Spa Tech Institute to check out the massage program. It was there that she realized Spa Tech Institute had an aesthetics program and she knew it was the right choice for her because of her passion to help people and her love for skincare.

Kasia enrolled in the 600-hour aesthetics program in the fall of 2008. While in school she commented that, “My teacher was great and was a mentor to me. The staff was awesome as well. I loved my time at Spa Tech Institute!” She graduated in May of 2009 and went to work in a spa.

The next few years, she worked in a few different spas learning as much as she could about the industry. She landed in Brookline working for Violet at her spa, Violet’s Skin Boutique where she worked for 6 years. She had a diverse customer base from students to professionals with all different skin types. She loved working there but always had a desire to open her own spa.

Kasia opened Customized Skincare Spa in 2017 at 6 Emerson Street in Haverhill and made her space a calm, soothing environment for her clients. She works with all age groups, but her specialty is deep pore cleansing with a focus onnutrition for them to receive maximum results. She helps them solve their skin problems using the right products for their skin as well.

She says, “Communication with the client is very important. I make sure the client gets what they need.” She finds it very gratifying when she makes a difference in people’s lives by helping them achieve the results they are looking for.

Advice she would give to a person contemplating going into aesthetics is, “Practice, practice, practice. That is what gives you confidence.” Kasia says,“you have to have a passion for helping people, be a good listener and build your relationship with the client.”

Kasia does advertising through the Chamber of Commerce, sponsors a woman’s softball team and runs a promotion for her services but knows her best advertising is word of mouth. Her goal is to increase her customer base and help as many people as she can.

Kasia lives in Ipswich with her husband and has a daughter and son. Her daughter is a cosmetologist who does lash extensions at the spa for Kasia’s clients. Kasia can be reached at 978-852-5965 or at customizedskincarespa.com.
