Heather Coombs

Heather Coombs worked in the health care industry for ten years as a home health aide before she realized it was no longer making her happy. She wanted to continue to help people but in a different way. This led her to request information from Spa Tech Institute, with her friend Jamie, to become a massage therapist. While visiting the school she learned about aesthetics and they decided to enroll in the aesthetics program.

Heather admits she did not know anything about aesthetics, wearing makeup or the different lines of skin care offered in the industry prior to starting school. Heather states, “Spa Tech Institute really prepared me for my career. Class size was small with a lot of one-on-one time with the instructor and it was a great atmosphere. It was very personal.” She also comments,“that the teachers were so nice and they are still there for me today if I have questions”. She says,“the school was not overwhelming and I built bonds with other students that I will have for the rest of my life”. Heatherended up learning so much about makeup and the correct way to apply it. She enjoyed so much that she began sellingYounique brand of makeup at wickedprettystar.com.

Heather’s life has changed drastically since graduating in May of 2016. She is more positive, happy, talkative, knowledgeable, confident and feels her life has changed for the better. Massage Envy in Burlington, MA helped with this self-proclaimed transformation. She started working three weeks after graduation and felt extremely comfortable and welcomed from the first day. Massage Envy encourages taking CEU’s and helps pay for them for each aesthetician. Heather is learning microdermabrasion in the coming months and will be adding it to the services she offers her clients. She currently gives customized facials adding vitamin C, two types of peels, lymphatic drainage and reflexology which adds a level of relaxation for her clients.

Heather offers advice to future students and says, “Go for it. If you are on the fence go for a tour.” She remembers how Spa Tech Institute assisted her in getting a job and appreciated all the help they gave along the way.
