Graduate Spotlight March 2017 Josie Correia

Spa Tech • Mar 19, 2017

Josie Correia graduated from Spa Tech Institute’s Aesthetics career program in the spring of 2009. When she was young she did some modeling and makeup artistry but ultimately went to school to be a paralegal which she was not passionate about it. She began to think about what made her happy and remembered enjoying the years that she was doing makeup. That passion is how she came to apply to Spa Tech Institute, Ipswich.

Josie said she would recommend the hands-on approach to learning she received at Spa Tech Institute to a prospective student because, “I got a great education! There was a lot of material to learn and if someone needed extra help the teachers were there for assistance”. Her favorite part of the school day was when she did her clinical hours providing services to the public.

When Josie first entered the spa business after graduating she enjoyed working at Sea Grass Spa in Methuen. She recently took on a new venture and opened her own skin care spa in North Andover called Simply Skincare and Massage with partner Kendra Retalic.

Josie CorreiaJosie received further training at the National Laser Institute where she learned how to operate the laser for hair and tattoo removal, cellulite reduction, microdermabrasion, radio frequency, dermaplaning and ultrasonic. She is also trained to work with oncology patients and is currently learning micro-needling. Her favorite aspect of being an aesthetician is seeing people’s skin change from the facial services she offers. She especially likes to give chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Other services she offers are body scrubs and many types of facials.

When asked about the passion she has for her job her face lights up. She states, “I take really good care of you, you get more than you pay for with me.” She further adds, “If I am having a bad day, I come to work and I can make people feel good. This is the best job I ever had!”

Josie carries the product line G.M. Collin and makes custom blend mineral makeup for her clients. She says she keeps up with current trends and feels her best advice to her clients is to use eye cream and sunscreen because it is never too late to take care of your skin. She adds, “There is so much information out there. No one knows what to do when it comes to their skin. I teach my clients while I am working on them.”

Josie lives in Amesbury and has three grown children and two grandchildren. Most of her clients come from word of mouth. She is accepting new clients and can be reached at Simply Skincare & Massage at 978-655-3332.
